De Ice Roofing Blue Ox

The simplest, most comfortable and safest way to get rid of ice that forms on the roof in the cold season is to install a de-icing system. It can be mounted on any type of roof, in order to prevent and remove snow and ice deposits (as well as their unwanted consequences: damage to facades, icicles but also water infiltration into the space under the roof).

A de-icing system is typically installed parallel to the gutters, protecting them as well, preventing them from clogging with ice and allowing them to collect rainwater from the roof and direct it safely away from the building.

It is good to know that a de-icing system is suitable for any type of roof, pitched or flat.

The electrical cables used to de-ice roofs are special cables designed for such applications. They have increased mechanical strength, resistance to temperature cycles (freeze-thaw), as well as to ultraviolet rays. Basically, once installed, these cables do not have to be removed.

Defrost cables are single-wire or two-wire cables, with metal sheath (for grounding). They can be prefabricated in rolls (each roll has a certain length and a certain power, and the cables cannot be cut) or they can be self-regulating de-icing cables (these can be cut according to the desired length).  For all your roofing needs hire companies like Blue Ox Exteriors in Aurora with years of experience.
